Welcoming Two New Bolashak Medical Interns to the University of Lancashire

2nd September 2025
Category: Internship

On 1st September 2025, My APA joined colleagues at the University of Lancashire (ULan) to welcome two Bolashak scholars embarking on their professional development programmes. The induction included a tour of the campus, meetings with academic mentors, and an introduction to the three-month CPD and research internship scheme.

The first intern, Dr. Zhanna Satenova, is a Candidate of Medical Sciences and a highly experienced gynecologist-oncologist from the West Kazakhstan Medical Institute. With over two decades of professional practice, Dr. Satenova brings expertise in oncology, obstetrics, and advanced gynecological surgery. Her internship focuses on cervical cancer research and innovative oncological approaches, including translational research and exposure to NHS best practices.

The second intern, Dr. Dinara Jussubaliyeva, is an obstetrician-gynecologist from the National Scientific Center for Maternity and Childhood in Astana. Her programme centres on high-risk pregnancy and maternal-fetal medicine, with hands-on training in prenatal diagnostics, fetal monitoring technologies, and interdisciplinary collaboration in maternal healthcare.

Both scholars will engage in:

  • Intensive English language orientation

  • Research lectures and lab-based experimental work

  • Observerships within NHS hospitals

  • Clinical skills development and teaching practice in medical education

These internships, running from September to November 2025, are made possible through the Bolashak International Scholarship, which supports Kazakhstani professionals to gain world-class expertise abroad and return with new skills to strengthen national healthcare capacity.

We are proud to support Dr. Satenova and Dr. Jussubaliyeva in their academic and clinical journeys and look forward to the positive impact their training at ULan will have in Kazakhstan’s healthcare system.
