As an organization based in the United Kingdom and working closely with international academic institutions, we continuously seek out innovative approaches that can enhance education systems and create meaningful opportunities for students and educators from Kazakhstan.
During a recent academic seminar at Loughborough University, we had the opportunity to meet Professor Wendy Carlin from University College London and explore the CORE Econ initiative — a globally recognized project transforming the way economics is taught.
What is CORE Econ?
CORE Econ is an international collaboration of leading economists and educators aimed at improving the quality of economics education worldwide. The project offers free, high-quality, open-access teaching materials that are already widely used across universities in Europe and beyond.
Its curriculum is designed to reflect real-world economic challenges, making learning more relevant, engaging, and practical for students.
Why This Matters for Kazakhstan
One of the key challenges in modern education is ensuring that academic programs remain relevant in a rapidly changing global environment. CORE Econ addresses this by:
Connecting economic theory with real-world data and current global issues
Encouraging critical thinking and applied learning
Providing interactive tools such as Classex to engage students more effectively
Supporting universities in modernizing their curricula
For Kazakhstan, this represents a valuable opportunity to align economics education with international standards while maintaining local relevance.
Our Role: Connecting Opportunities
As a UK-based educational organization, My APA plays an active role in connecting Kazakhstan with leading academic initiatives and institutions in the United Kingdom.
We support:
Student admissions to UK universities
Academic internships and research placements
Short-term academic visits and educational programs
Institutional partnerships and knowledge exchange
Our mission is not only to help individuals access education abroad, but also to bring global expertise back to Kazakhstan.
Opportunities for Collaboration
The introduction of CORE Econ in Kazakhstan opens up several important направления для сотрудничества:
Translation and adaptation of materials into Kazakh and Russian
Training and professional development for university lecturers
Academic partnerships with UK and international institutions
Participation in global educational networks
We believe that such initiatives can significantly strengthen the quality of higher education and expand opportunities for students.
Looking Ahead
CORE Econ is more than just a set of teaching materials — it represents a shift towards a more modern, inclusive, and impactful model of education.
At My APA, we are committed to supporting projects that bridge countries, institutions, and ideas. By working together with universities, educators, and international partners, we aim to make high-quality education more accessible and relevant for the next generation.
