Economics and Finance Summer School at the University of Lincoln: Academic Experience and Cultural Immersion
11th December 2025
Category: Teaching and courses
In July 2026, the University of Lincoln invites international students to take part in a two-week Economics and Finance Summer School. The programme combines academic study, practical training, and a rich cultural schedule, offering participants a first-hand experience of studying and living at a modern UK university.
Recently, representatives of MyAPA met with the programme organiser, Dr Erkan Demirbas. He shared detailed insights into the concept of the summer school, its academic structure, and the opportunities available to participants. Dr Demirbas is the organiser of the programme and oversees its academic content.
Academic Programme
Morning sessions are dedicated to interactive learning and the development of essential academic and analytical skills. Participants are introduced to the UK university learning environment and to professional tools widely used in economics and finance.
The academic component includes an Economics and Finance Escape Room, a Cartoon Project Workshop, and an introduction to the Bloomberg Suite. Students also complete Bloomberg Certificate training, which includes eight hours of independent study. Additional elements of the programme include an introduction to the Lincoln Student Managed Investment Fund, a workshop titled “Being a Young Researcher in Economics,” and engagement sessions with undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as alumni.
This academic structure allows students not only to expand their subject knowledge, but also to gain a deeper understanding of the academic culture of British higher education.
Cultural and Social Programme
Afternoons, evenings, and weekends are devoted to a varied cultural and social programme designed to introduce students to English history, local culture, and student life.
Participants visit Lincoln Cathedral and take part in the Lincoln Castle Wall Walk. The programme also includes a trip to London, a coach trip to Hartsholme Country Park, a Brayford Belle boat tour, and a visit to the International Bomber Command Centre. Students can enjoy football and other sports sessions, use the University of Lincoln gym, and explore the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Social activities such as a talent show and movie night create opportunities for relaxation and interaction.
Accommodation and Meals
Participants stay in modern university accommodation, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the programme. The package includes thirteen nights of accommodation, three meals a day covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as participation in all scheduled academic activities and excursions.
Each group is accommodated in private apartments consisting of twelve rooms. For participants under the age of eighteen, supervision is provided at a ratio of one accompanying staff member per eleven students.
Programme Fees
Programme fees vary depending on group size. For a group of eleven students, the fee is £2,300 per student. For a group of twenty-two students, the fee is £1,850 per student. For a group of thirty-three students, the fee is £1,600 per student.
Special discounts are available for educational institutions and organised student groups.
