R&D Project Launched to Improve Heat Exchange Systems in Power Plants
April 2025
Category: Joint Research
My APA has facilitated the launch of an ambitious joint research initiative focused on enhancing the operational reliability of heat exchange systems in Kazakhstan’s coal-based power plants. The collaboration brings together Margulan University, East Kazakhstan Technical University (EKTU), and engineering experts from Bilfinger.
The project aims to address one of the sector’s most persistent technical challenges: boiler tube failures, a key contributor to unplanned outages and economic losses. Through the integration of sensor-based monitoring systems and digital twin technology, the consortium seeks to develop predictive maintenance tools capable of early fault detection and performance optimization.
Initial meetings have taken place to align institutional expertise and define research objectives. The partnership reflects a growing commitment to applying advanced engineering and data-driven methods to extend the life and efficiency of legacy energy infrastructure.
Further updates on project milestones and field implementation are expected in the coming months.
